6 Engagement Ring Trends We're Actually Seeing at the Counter This Year

Every week I sit across the table from at least two or three couples picking out an engagement ring, and the requests have started falling into a pattern. Not a boring one more of a "wait, everyone wants this right now" pattern. So instead of another generic trends roundup, I pulled together the six designs that have actually been walking out of our studio the most this year.

One thing worth knowing before we get into it: nearly everything below can be made with our IGI-certified lab-grown diamonds, which usually means a noticeably larger diamond for the same budget you'd spend on natural. That shift has changed a lot of these conversations, and it's part of why a few of these trends exist in the first place.

Trend No. 1Toi Et Moi — Two Diamonds, One Ring, No Explanation Needed

Toi et moi means "you and me," and once we explain that, most couples stop needing convincing. Two diamonds sit side by side, often different shapes on purpose an emerald next to a pear is one of our most-requested combinations. It's the rare ring where the meaning is built into the design instead of something you explain later at family functions.

Trend No. 2Stackable Bands, Bought With the Next Five Years in Mind

More couples are asking us to design the engagement ring so it already works with a wedding band and an anniversary band that don't exist yet. That means thinking about proportions early a slightly narrower engagement ring so a stack doesn't crowd the finger, or a setting low enough that other rings sit flush beside it. It's a small planning step that saves a lot of frustration two years down the line.

Trend No. 3Vintage Rings, Reworked for Everyday Wear

Vintage detailing hasn't gone anywhere if anything, we're building more of it. What's changed is the engineering underneath: three-diamond settings with milgrain edges and hexagon or pear silhouettes, but built low and secure enough for daily wear instead of purely for special occasions. It gives couples that old-world, heirloom feeling without a ring that has to be babied.

Trend No. 4East-West Settings, Diamonds Turned on Their Side

Instead of pointing up the finger the way we're all used to, more of our couples are asking for diamonds set sideways east to west instead of north to south. It reads as elongating on the hand and gives even a familiar shape like a pear a slightly different personality. Paired with a curved band, it's become one of our more distinctive requests this year.

Trend No. 5Coloured Lab-Grown Diamonds, Finally at a Price That Makes Sense

Two years ago, a fancy yellow or pink diamond meant a serious conversation about budget. That's changed. Lab-grown coloured diamonds now sit close enough in price to white diamonds that we're seeing far more people choose them because they like the colour, not as a compromise. A warm yellow diamond in yellow gold looks almost sunlit in person, in a way photos genuinely don't capture well.

Trend No. 6Hidden Halos, for People Who Want the Sparkle Without the Size

A hidden halo sits underneath the centre diamond rather than around it, so from the top the ring looks clean and simple, but the moment the hand catches light, there's an extra shimmer nobody was expecting. It's become the go-to for brides who liked the idea of a halo but felt the classic version looked too busy for their hand.

A Few Things I Tell Every Couple Before They Decide

• Check what she already reaches for. If her everyday jewellery is all yellow gold, that's usually your answer before you've even looked at settings.
• Think about her hands, not just her hand shape. Someone who cooks, types all day, or works with their hands will thank you for a lower, bezel-style setting.
• Set the budget conversation first, design second. Lab-grown lets you go up a size or add detailing without the number changing much worth knowing before you fall for a design.
• It's fine to mix traditions. Some of our favourite rings pair a very modern setting with one clearly traditional detail. It rarely looks forced when it's done with restraint.
• Ask for the certificate, every time. If a jeweller hesitates on this, that's worth noticing.
